The four-year tenure of Israeli ambassador Daniel Taub to the United Kingdom has seen trade between the two countries on an upward trajectory. This report was released by the Israeli Embassy in the United Kingdom.
Ambassador Daniel Taub is expected to relinquish his office this summer. The Israeli Embassy further said that during Ambassador Taub’s tenure, there was a significant deepening of links between the two countries in the areas of business, culture, and academics.
During the British Israeli Business Awards, Sajid Javid, the British Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills termed the total trades between the two countries as having entered the golden era.
According to the Israel-Britain Chamber of Commerce, more than 300 businesses have cropped up in the United Kingdom. Javid said that this had seen the annual bilateral trade almost reach $7 billion.
Ambassador Daniel Taub traveled to Northern Ireland in 2014 as a peace negotiator together with a Palestinian counterpart, albeit to learn from what was taking place there. During an interview in 2012 with the Jewish Chronicle, Ambassador Taub said he was concerned with the atmosphere on some college campuses.
He warned administrators to ensure that every view expressed in support or against Israel should be expressed freely devoid of intimidation. Ambassador Taub defiantly visited Bradford which had hitherto been declared an “Israel-free zone” by George Galloway.
